Montreal Fashion Week - Mélissa Nepton

As Montreal prepared to host its 24th fashion week, I got ready to attend a week full of runways and fun at the stunning Arsenal Gallery. Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of attending the MFW opening cocktail, followed by shows by Pedram Karimi, Mélissa Nepton, Nadya Toto and Thomas Collection.

Of all the designers I saw, Mélissa Nepton and Nadya Toto certainly impressed me most!

lissa's Fall/Winter collection boasted a variety of different textures which were expertly mixed to create edgy yet classic pieces. The warm browns and terracotta's mixed with the classic black unquestionably created a look with an equestrian flare. At the same time, Nepton's pieces stayed true to her poised and feminine style.

"Finding its inspiration in the early 20th Century cubism art movement, the EQUESTRIS collection explores strength, vigor and elegance, the fundamental concepts that lay at the core of the Nepton Woman. Bridging couture and comfort, Mélissa Nepton confirms once more her signature style with a runway show in three acts that [definitely had a few surprises!]"

I especially loved the wool and leather coats and the 'très équestre' pants that had stunning leather work on the sides. Not to mention the unbelievably chic black fur purses that were just to die for!

For day one of fashion week I kept it simple and comfortable since the event included a lot of running around. I wore a pink beaded chiffon top (with a surprise velvet back), black skinnies and a simple blazer.

Juicy Couture - Pink Topaz Beaded Top
Free People - Skinnies
Michael Kors - Watch
OrYanni - Purse
Blazer from Style Exchange (label came off / it's old!)
Boots from the Feet First closing sale

A post about Nadya Toto will be coming up soon. Her collection definitely deserves one of it's own as well!

Off to get ready for day two of MFW!
