I visited Lush Cosmetics last week for the very first time. Since the store first opened in Fairview Pointe-Claire, I always walked by it and was semi-conflicted by the absurdly strong smell and the wild coloured soaps and bath bombs. Amy from The Pretty Vain convinced me that I needed the notoriously famous Ocean Salt face and body scrub in my life, so I went on over and indulged in the fabulous Lush experience.
OCEAN SALT FACE AND BODY SCRUB
Lush says: Washing with Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water. We mix in fresh avocado and coconut to hydrate thirsty skin, while the antibacterial effects of lime and vodka is ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes. The minerals in sea salt soften as it scrubs away dirt and blockages
I say: This really is the best facial scrub I have ever tried. Having spent most of my summers by the sea, I know that sea salt really is one of the only things that makes my skin super soft and ultra clear. This product is basically the ocean in a container (with tons of other great stuff!). RECOMMEND. RECOMMEND. RECOMMEND.
NEW! (SHAMPOO BAR)
Lush says: There’s nothing new about our stimulating cinnamon and clove shampoo bar. But, it is incredibly effective at giving you thicker, shinier hair and invigorating your scalp. When stress or life goes to your head, our shampoo will encourage hair growth and motivated tired scalps with spice and mint oils. It’s intense, (in the best possible way), but works wonders on irritated scalps or hair that’s thinning. Rosemary and nettle herbs rejuvenate, and make your hair shiny and soft as a feather. All of this, in one little beautifully fragranced spice bar; are you ready for a NEW shampoo?
I say: This a definitely a cool product to have. I'll definitely use it a lot for travelling since it's compact and very light weight (compared to a regular shampoo bottle). The bar is really easy to use and creates an incredibly thick lather. It leaves your hair feeling and sounding squeaky clean (literally). You absolutely need to follow up with a good conditioner because this shampoo will no doubt leave your hair feeling a bit dry. The smell of it is great, but I love cinnamon so I kinda think anything cinnamony is awesome. The best part of this shampoo bar is that it apparently lasts three times as long as a regular shampoo and stimulates your hair to grow. I'd recommend alternating between this and your regular shampoo.
CINDERS BATH BOMB
Lush says: Heat up your holidays with this sweet and spicy bomb inspired by fireside gatherings with family and friends. We combined crackling vegan candies with stimulating cinnamon leaf oil to recreate the warmth of the hearth. This spicy soak also has hydrating almond oil to keep your skin super soft and smooth. With a bathtub so inviting, you can skip the open fire and curl up with this fizzer instead.
I say: I don't have any other lush bath bombs to compare this with. As a first time user, I'm a bit confused. This bath bomb promised to sound like you're by the fire (crackling candies)... all I heard was the fizz of the sodium bicarbonate. It smelled great, which was awesome, and lasted quite a while. The colour it turned the water was a bit unsettling though. Yellow definitely is NOT a good colour for bath water. It did leave a my skin feeling super soft and smelling good. So although this bomb does have some bad features, it has some pretty great ones too. Confused.
THE LUSH EXPERIENCE
One more thing that I just MUST mention is the unbelievably awesome service I received at the Fairview Pointe-Claire store. The girl that served me that night spent an hour and a half walking me through the store and explained all of the products that sparked my interest. I have to give it to lush for having such a high standard of employees. It's not every day that you come across a store where the employees make you feel comfortable and at ease. What strikes me the most about the lush staff is their ability to relate to their customers on a personal level. Their non-pushy technique is one that other companies should consider adopting.
I'll be back, Lush!
