Transitioning Into Fall

For me, fall is all about finding those key transition pieces that can take you from season to season, effortlessly. Layering a cozy knit on top of a cute dress is probably my favorite way to achieve the "it's not quite summer, but not yet fall" look. A chunky knit on top of a breezy dress is the perfect way to stay warm, but not too warm, as the season changes.

For outerwear, I'm still in love with the army jacket. It's the perfect touch of boyish-chic to add to an otherwise girly outfit. Careful not to over do it with too many masculine looking pieces though. It's easy to get carried away and end up looking like a 12 year old boy!

Transition Colour: Oxblood is a colour to keep your eye out for this season, as many designers have incorporated it in their fall collections. The colour is, as Glamour Magazine puts it, red's badass older cousin. In fact, it's almost the colour of red wine. I'll be looking for a pair of oxblood skinnies to wear with a white silk blouse in the next few weeks. The colour is so edgy and rich, I can't wait to get my hands on it!

I wore a dark grey knit on top of an army green dress to run some errands today. My day consisted of studying at the library, meeting a friend for a quick coffee, picking up a few things at the grocery store for my parents, paying some bills, and mailing a letter. Call me old fashioned, but I still love sending and receiving a good ol' fashioned letter!

I found this great post about fall wardrobe essentials on Refinery29 today. Of all the lists I've read of fall 2012 must-haves, I think this one is the best. It's very complete, and gives a ton of different options to suit a variety of different styles. Click here to view it!
